Privacy Notice

1. Who we are

This Privacy Notice describes how Instakitchen ("InstaKitchen", "we", "us") processes personal data in connection with the InstaKitchen service. We act as the data controller for the personal data described here. You can contact us at privacy@instakitchen.in.

2. Personal data we collect

  • Account data — name, email, login credentials, profile info.
  • Household content — pantry items, meal plans, recipes, grocery lists, family members you invite.
  • Uploaded images — bill / receipt photos you scan, processed to extract items.
  • AI prompts and outputs — messages you send to the cooking assistant and recipes generated for you.
  • Support communications — messages you send us and our replies.
  • Usage and device data — IP address, device identifiers, browser, pages visited, feature usage, timestamps.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see section 8.

Payment card and billing data is collected directly by our reseller Paddle and is not stored by us.

3. Purposes and legal bases

  • Creating and operating your account and household — contract performance.
  • Providing AI features (recipes, meal plans, bill scanning, chef assistant) — contract performance.
  • Security, fraud prevention, abuse detection — legitimate interests.
  • Product improvement and analytics — legitimate interests.
  • Customer support — contract performance / legitimate interests.
  • Marketing communications where you have opted in — consent.
  • Meeting legal, tax and accounting obligations — legal obligation.

4. Who we share data with

  • Service providers / subprocessors — cloud hosting, database and authentication (Supabase), AI model providers used to power recipe and assistant features, error monitoring, analytics and customer support tooling.
  • Merchant of Record — Paddle.com, which handles the sale of the product, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing on our behalf.
  • Professional advisers — legal, accounting and audit firms where necessary.
  • Authorities — regulators, courts and law enforcement where legally required.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. International transfers

Our subprocessors may process personal data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Economic Area. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms approved by regulators.

6. Retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary to provide the Service, meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, or resolve disputes. When you delete your account we delete or anonymise associated data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records for legal reasons.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, port it to another provider, and withdraw consent. Users in the UK/EEA also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@instakitchen.in. We will respond within one month.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember preferences. We may also use limited analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. You can manage cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may break parts of the Service.

9. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, row-level security on our database, and regular reviews. No system is 100% secure; please use a strong, unique password and keep your credentials confidential.

10. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

11. Changes

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date.
